Abstract

Human waste contains vital biological information that reflects the health condition of an individual. Many diseases such as diabetes, urinary tract infections, kidney disorders, hormonal imbalance, and certain cancers leave identifiable markers in urine and feces. Early detection of these conditions can significantly reduce health risks and mortality rates, especially in rural and economically weaker populations.

This paper presents the concept of Smart Flushing: A Health Monitoring System, a biomedical system integrated with a toilet bowl capable of automatic urine analysis. The system is designed to detect specific biomarkers such as glucose, ketones, proteins, estradiol, and traces of blood using embedded sensors. The collected data is processed, stored, and transmitted through a communication module to the user and nearby healthcare facilities for early medical intervention.

The proposed system aims to provide daily, non-invasive health monitoring, assist elderly and dementia patients, support menstrual cycle tracking, and improve preventive healthcare. Despite challenges related to affordability, user identification, and data reliability, smart toilet systems have the potential to revolutionize primary healthcare by enabling continuous and real-time health assessment.
